Al Gore Joins Call for Electric Cars

Buried in Al Gore's challenge today calling for a 100% renewable electric grid within ten years is a call for plug-in electric cars. This represents a big change in his thinking, and will hopefully quickly push political and environmental leadership to coalesce around policies to push plug-in cars into the market as quickly as possible.
We could further increase the value and efficiency of a Unified National Grid by helping our struggling auto giants switch to the manufacture of plug-in electric cars. An electric vehicle fleet would sharply reduce the cost of driving a car, reduce pollution, and increase the flexibility of our electricity grid.

Too bad he didn't say things like that during his 8 YEARS as VP of the US. He was in office during the original ZEV mandate years (1991-2000) and while the auto companies were suing to gut out the mandate, he did NOTHING. As far as I'm concerned, he is a failure, almost as much as the Bush Regime is.
And he did NOT deserve a Nobel Prize.
I only hope the next administration will contain some genuine environmentalists, but knowing how corrupt the Republican & Democrat parties are, I doubt things will change until the general public forces them to.
